Dan Mellows Partner - Governance & Internal Audit

Dan heads up our insurance internal audit practice and is our Global Governance Lead across all sectors.

Experience

Dan is a Chartered Accountant with 17 years of experience providing consulting and assurance services, with a specific focus on (re)insurers, including general, Lloyd’s, life, mutuals and brokers in areas of governance, risk and internal control. As well as leading our insurance internal audit practice in the UK, Dan leads our Global Governance Community, developing and aligning our service offerings internationally and across all sectors.

Dan fulfils all aspects of the relationship and engagement lead role, including regular liaison with, and presentation to, C-suite executives, non-executives, boards and committees. As part of his role, he designs, delivers and reports on board effectiveness reviews, internal audit plans and risk assurance for his clients. He has also led and delivered numerous ad hoc engagements in areas of governance (including board effectiveness and Section 166), risk and control (internal audit and EQAs) and has helped design risk and IA frameworks.

Work highlights

Dan has facilitated the implementation of enterprise risk management frameworks and was central to the design and implementation of a public interest reinsurer’s internal audit framework.
